The Homestead

The Homestead is the heart of The Nurture Project — a peaceful, nature-rich space where children can slow down, explore, and connect with the world around them.

The Homestead entrance

Set within a homestead environment, this space has been thoughtfully created to feel safe, welcoming and grounded in nature. It offers children the freedom to learn through hands-on experiences, outdoor exploration and meaningful connection. Rather than a traditional program, the Homestead is designed to feel like a small village where children are known, supported and encouraged to grow at their own pace.

Our sessions are intentionally kept small to ensure every child feels seen and supported. Within this calm and nurturing environment, children are invited to build confidence, develop social skills and experience the joy of learning through play, creativity and connection with the land.

Homestead Sessions

Homestead sessions provide a gentle, holistic experience where children can explore, create and connect in a natural setting.

Children in a group session

Sessions are typically held in small groups, allowing children to form meaningful relationships with both peers and facilitators while feeling supported in a calm and unhurried environment.

During a Homestead session, children may experience:

  • Nature-based play and outdoor exploration
  • Hands-on care for farm animals
  • Gardening and learning about where food comes from
  • Creative building and DIY projects
  • Imaginative and sensory play
  • Opportunities to develop social skills and confidence
  • Time for connection, curiosity and unstructured discovery

Sessions are intentionally designed to support each child's individual needs and strengths, creating a space where they can feel calm, capable and connected. Activities are guided but flexible, allowing children to follow their interests and engage with the environment in meaningful ways.

Whether through caring for animals, digging in the garden, building something new or simply spending time outdoors with others, the Homestead provides children with opportunities to learn, grow and thrive in a supportive community.

Why Families Choose the Homestead

Families are drawn to the Homestead because it offers something increasingly rare — a place where children can slow down, connect with nature and simply be children.

In a world that often feels busy and structured, the Homestead provides a calm and nurturing environment where learning happens naturally through play, exploration and meaningful experiences.

A Gentle, Child-Led Approach

At the Homestead, children are supported to follow their curiosity and interests. Sessions are flexible and responsive, allowing children to learn in ways that feel natural and enjoyable rather than rushed or pressured.

Connection With Nature

Spending time outdoors is at the heart of the Homestead experience. Children have the opportunity to explore the land, care for animals, dig in the garden and develop a deep appreciation for the natural world.

Small, Supportive Groups

Sessions are intentionally kept small so every child can feel safe, seen and supported. This allows genuine relationships to form between children and facilitators while creating a strong sense of belonging.

Building Confidence and Social Skills

Through shared experiences, cooperative play and hands-on activities, children naturally develop confidence, communication skills and friendships in a supportive environment.

A Community for Families

The Homestead is more than just a session — it's a growing community. Families value the connection, support and shared values that come from being part of a space centred on nurturing children and honouring childhood.
